We Need A Revolution! Shocka Resurfaces.[/hide] “Russell Brand Might Be Right, We’re Going Buckingham Palace Tonight”
Anyone who knows me personally will know I am not the biggest fan of the hood life or the attitudes and characters that surround it. My problem isn’t with their reasoning for getting caught up in the life, it’s the fact that WE forgot what the main goal is and that is to get OUT of the hood… We got caught up in our own ignorance. The thing is our generation already has the odds against us without ourselves adding to it.
Here comes my brother Shocka addressing the ignorance that we all face in today’s society and within our generation. We have a bigger war to fight rather than fighting amongst our selves. The video starts with Shocka’s role model Russel Brand dropping some gems on us that made me personally gain respect for the gentleman. After Brussel gives “Kenny” his candid opinion on how we should go about things in order to see a change the remarkable video visualized by the genius himself, Vertex, begins.
Based in Shocka’s neighbourhood, Broadwater Farm, the video starts with a young lady running through the infamous blocks with a T-Shirt branded “Don’t Shoot” which really sets the tone for the video (Well Done Vertex!). This video acts as a representation of where we are (farm) and where we need to go (the heights of Einstein and other greats).
Shocka’s new persona after departing from The Marvell Boys, is all about Fighting Ignorance and Standing Tall (ironically the name of his new EP which should be due out this summer). F.I.S.T, like this new video, is nothing like Shocka’s previous material. No more meaningless concepts, no more sh*t talking, just pure substance and thought provoking tracks. I personally liked the sh*t talking Kenneth, but this new rendition is surprisingly even better. Shocka is addressing the topics that most are afraid to address in worries that it will be considered ‘preaching’. It’s about time it was addressed and quite eloquently too. I hope ‘The Floyd Mayweather of Punchlines’ himself will bring this sort of content to the mainstream eye.
I invite you guys to follow this journey of Shocka’s closely and to have a look at his new video Revolution below!
