Oh My Goodness! A New Star Emerges[/hide] “My N*ggas never read but if the coppers hit the block then you can bet they get to booking”
Every once in a while I stumble across an artist that, in my opinion, is worth paying attention to. First it was Tory Lanez, then it was Bj The Chicago Kid now it is a young 24 year old rapper by the name of Boogie and rightly so, his new single has me shaking a leg.
I had been surfing Twitter as per my duties from being a part of Team Pree and happened to come across a Vine that had a very catchy hook to it (Another Bobby Shmurda, Dej Loaf success story? I hope so). I immediately went on YouTube and typed in “Oh My Goodness” and hoped to find something that stuck out. I took the chance and clicked on the first link and to my delight it was what I had heard on vine. Immediately that trap head nod that may end up breaking your neck commenced, I was hooked! This hard hitting trap song is surprisingly not your typical club banger. While it has all the makings of one, this specific Jalil Beats’ produced record is miles above the rest. The cadences he uses in this particular Hit (Yes, Hit), is unique and refreshing. He also manages to throw in quite a few punchlines to my delight. Boogie Tell us his story and his struggles in a pretty catchy whilst entertaining way, this gentleman reminds me of Kendrick slightly. You can definitely see the Compton in him through this video, his video presence reeks of it (which is a good thing of course).
I’m not one that immediately becomes a fan of an artist, but this was one of those exceptions. After roughly 10 times of pulling up this tune, I finally decided to check out what else was on his channel and I have to say, I don’t know what is better, His wordplay and wittiness or the fact he has his 5 Year Old son is in all his videos. Boogie is definitely a breath of fresh air conceptually and sonically. ‘Oh My’ is not the only banger this character has and that is the greatest thing about it all, He is consistently sick! From his epic freestyle on Sway In The Morning to his song Bitter Raps, he really is something to watch out for. I recommend downloading his mixtape ‘Thirst 48’ and keeping an eye out for his upcoming album which is due in the summer ‘The Reach’.
If you guys would like to see why I was so gassed about this individual’s music career, check out his video to ‘Oh My’ Below. Oh and follow him on social media!
