After Chip’s recent Hat Trick of diss tracks, Can Bugzy find a way to come out on top?
I’m sure we all saw this beef start and grow pretty rapidly. Starting with Chip replying to Tinie Tempah on the Fire In The Booth platform whilst also offering an open challenge to anyone who considered themselves a Grime elite. Well Bugzy took that challenge up with his own F.I.T.B freestyle, which sky-rocketed his career.
Chip came back pretty quickly with his own ‘Pepper Riddim’, getting at a few people who had chimed on the situation including Bugzy, which really had every on their toes. Malone fired back with a very disrespectful ‘Relegation Riddim’ both lyrically and geographically. I must admit, being from Tottenham that video had me feeling a way. I was itching for Chip to rectify the situation pretty quickly. Well Rage stepped in on Tottenham’s behalf in Chipmunk’s absence with ‘Retaliation’ & ‘Shut Your Mouth’ (The latter was removed from Link Up Tv due to some behind the scenes phone calls).
Chip did however reply with ‘The End’ and while it was a great track, I was of opinion that it wasn’t direct enough. Bugzy used this to his advantage and started running with his perceived victory, throwing jabs at Chip in a few more songs.
‘5 Months’ later, I log onto GRM Daily to see a new Chip record called Light Work. I just assumed it would be another track of him showcasing the talent as the beef was ‘over’. To my delight it was a direct reply to Bugzy Malone. I had to have pulled up the track roughly 3 or 4 times.
I, like everybody else, was now waiting for a reply from bugzy & we got this in the form of a tweet.
Little did we know this would lead to Mr Munk taking a leaf out of Drake’s book and fire another diss track. I logged into snapchat and saw a behind the scenes video of the new diss and woke up the next morning to a Link Up Tv URL for the video. I, like most people had to rate Chip for his work rate and intent. That coupled with the fact the lyrics were fire, meant that this diss track would sit high in my regard.
A few nights after, I checked my Whatsapp only to be sent another link for a new diss, this time on the SBTV platform. Chip had released a song entitled ‘Hat-Trick’. Not only did he release a Hat Trick of songs for Bugzy, he did it on all 3 major outlets which added to the significance of his plan, all while releasing an EP.
Now after all that’s gone on, the question of ‘Can Bugzy come back from this?’ arises. We saw what Drake did to Meek’s buzz after his album was released. Will this be the same situation for Bugzy? If Chip’s latest tweet regarding the beef is anything to go by, the answer is no.
Releasing a fourth diss on Bugzy Malone’s home platform could prove to be the final nail in the coffin. Let me know your thoughts on the beef and follow these two heavyweights on social media too.
Peace & Love!
